Get Help

One of the most important goals of the Legal Aid Society is to make clients, prospective clients, and their families and friends aware of our services and how to access them. The following pages provide help.

Civil Matters

We represent qualifying families and individuals who have civil legal issues involving housing, government benefits, disability, foreclosure, employment, homelessness, consumer law, eviction, and civil rights.  The intake process is confidential.

If we accept your case for representation, the attorney may offer advice, refer you to more appropriate services, or agree to represent you in court.

The Legal Aid Society Guardians ad Litem who work in the Vel R Phillips Youth and Family Justice Center and downtown courthouse family law division are appointed by a judge in an ongoing case. Legal Aid does not offer advice or accept clients from the public in these matters.
